With the Renaissance of all things 'roots' these have been,, somewhat hard done-by in recent times,,, are undergoing somewhat of a revival in these current climes. Played like a mandolin, tuned GDAE, but with a harder, more strident tone, this particular instrument has undergone a full makeover, new vellum (skin) and renovated machine heads and frets, it now is restored to its former glory and sounds remarkable. Very small and would make a great travel instrument, and the small diameter of the vellum makes the tuning quite stable.
