This banjo is a five string - made before the five string banjo was developed into the instrument we know and love today (or not as the case may be - please refrain from forwarding banjo jokes to our email address). Made in London before 1914 - we know this because the Dallas factory moved in 1914, having been at the address stamped in the back of the headstock since 1896. we estimate this wonderful old piece to be 100 years old and Rob has done a sterling job restoring it. We call it a tunnel banjo, although the banjo experts call them 'Zither Banjos'. Note the headstock which features six heads, only five work of course, but at least you have a spare in the event one fails!
